I think alot of us would like to know this before we commit because of the cost of getting there if you dont live in the County. Thanks :o)

Hey Leah! you rock for getting us off our butts for the reunion :-) I am embarrassed to say (well ok it takes more than that to embarrass me :-) but how the heck do we update- je ne comprend pas or something like that... (Ann Blanchard would either be proud or grimace, depending if I got that right)btw happy anniversary! wish we were there- just missed it but send hugs to you both and those awesome kids of yours!

Lewis Michaud Aug 19, 2010 4:14PM
Later in July will be good.  Was looking over the website and try to remember everybody but it has been a long time.  But I do remember some classmates.  It is great to read messages from other classmates.  Let me know about the reunion, I didnt attend all the others but that was due to military service and combat service.  Planning on attending this one.

Leah Lamoreau-Girardin Aug 18, 2010 9:32PM
I would like all the classmates to update their info here on the website. That way we know our contact info is correct. We invite everyone to come to the meetings they are the third Thursday of the month at Tim Horton's. We would appreciate your input.

I recently found this website; I graduated with all of you but a life / career in the military took me away and I didn't maintain any ties to my classmates. I don't see my name on the class list and wondered how I might be added?

Condolences go out to our classmate Julie Karnes for the recent passing of her father Bill. If you have ever had him as a teacher you already know that he touched all of our lives one way or another growing up.

I want to thank  fellow school friends for their encouraging words during my time of Chemo treatments. It means the world to me to know you care. Special thanks goes out to my friend of 42 years, Cindy Simpson Clark who has called me every day and always makes me laugh.

I would like to wish each and everyone a wonderful Christmas Season and a Joyous and Prosperous New Year.
I was setting here thinking that as a child, it seemed to take two years for Christmas to get here.  Now as a parent, it seems like Christmas comes twice a year. Is it just me or does each Christmas come and go by faster than the one before? Any way just wanted to say Merry Christmas and hope that in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of Wal-Marts and Shopping Malls, that we might be able to remember the real reason for the season.

Kerry Gettig-Pepper Sep 14, 2009 1:54PM
Raymond I'm sorry if my feelings offended you, but your response is uncalled for. I did not ask for your advise and I don't care what you think.

Raymond Soucier Sep 13, 2009 7:37PM
A reply to Kerry, You need some grand children or a hobby.  Thats all I can suggest they can't live with you forever. :-)

Kerry Gettig-Pepper Sep 11, 2009 3:03PM
Could someone please help me put a picture on this page. For some reason I can not figure this out. Well my youngest (son) just went off to college at Emcc in Bangor for HVAC that was the hardest day. Although he comes haome every weekend to race dirtbikes its still hard when Sunday rolls around. So here I am at 47 and in the empty nest syndrome, but I'm getting used to it. Sorry to hear about everyones loss, my thoughts and prays are with you all.

Carter charts Presque Isle basketball history

By Ernie Clark
BDN Staff

A new book detailing the history of Presque High School basketball from 1950 to the present is a comprehensive tome chock full of statistics, rosters, other highlights and photos from the last six decades.

Its missing just one item the name of the man who put it all together.

I forgot to put my name on the book as the author, said Jim Carter, a 1964 Presque Isle graduate now retired after a long career as a teacher and coach in the Caribou school system. I guess Ill have to make sure I sign them all.

Carter received the first copies of his book, Six Decades of Wildcat Basketball: A History of Boys & Girls Basketball at Presque Isle High School 1950-2009, from the printer Monday, and made his first sale the same evening.

The 92-page book features sections on boys basketball at Presque Isle by decade, girls basketball from 1950 to 1973 and then from 1975 to the present by decade, coaching records, members of the schools 1,000-point club, all-state selections, Eastern Maine all-tournament selections, all-conference honorees, boys rosters from 1950 to 2009, girls rosters from 1975 to 2009 and 15 pages of vintage photos.

The book is a sequel of sorts to Fifty-One years of Basketball Playing in Aroostook County, Maine: 1900-1950, by Nathan W. White.

I had been researching and writing some stories about former star athletes at Presque Isle High School, said Carter. I had written stories on the basketball teams from the 1960s, and when that got out some people approached me asking me why not do a book?

I had already done research about the teams in the 70s, and with the 60s and 70s down, I thought why not?

Carter researched the book by scouring microfilm from various newspapers, poring through scorebooks and scrapbooks and interviewing former players.

Scrapbooks compiled by Bill Hanscom, who coached the Presque Isle boys to a 369-188 record from 1931 to 1956 and guided the Wildcats to their only state title on the boys side in 1932, had been donated to the public library.

They were a fountain of information, said Carter, and there were some great pictures, too.

Carter also was appreciative of the cooperation of Presque Isle High School, which made available its library of old scorebooks and scrapbooks highlighting past teams.

Carter also gleaned considerable information by going through old newspapers.

How much you learned about a particular team depended on who was writing about the teams at different times, said Carter, who cited the work of Del Hodgkins for the Star-Herald as particularly helpful. Sometimes if a team didnt have that good of a season, Id go to the team roster and then contact some of the players for help.

Carter estimates he spent 1,200 to 1,500 hours doing research, keying information into his computer, editing and working with photos.

And from that effort, Carter hopes the names of such former Wildcat stars as Barney Perry, Eric Weider, Steve Condon, Denise Guerrette, Debbie Lennon, Kathy Roope, Kim Condon, Brianna Blanchard and Katie Delong will remain in the Presque Isle basketball consciousness for decades to come.

I think doing this has raised awareness of some of the great players of the past, said Carter.

For more information or to purchase the book, contact Carter at 764-1217 or 551-3452 or by e-mail at jcarter001@maine.rr.com.

Howdy Folks,

The ear ring may have been cool but not!

My condolences to Beth Fogg-King and her family on the passing of her dad.  We were neighbors for so many years and I remember Bennie working out in the yard, piling wood and always busy!  Thinking of you Beth!

I'm young at heart, going through the mid-life crisis thing I think.  Trying to be a good boy but driving my wonderful wife insane.  Back to the gym trying to look good again, growing my hair out trying to look young,  sports cars and motorcycles put the earring back in the hole that was closed.  New clothes expensive shoes an upgrade from Walmart....Damn! I look good for my age but why do I still feel old? DUH I am old.., every year I get older.  Life has been good to me shouldn't complain, but where does the time go?  Anyone else feel this way?  Hey let me know we can enjoy this tragedy together.  It was wonderful growing up in a town like PI and when I visit the area I remember that time and the people I knew. Hopefully next reunion more of us old people show up.
