Well, not quite a virus, but a web spider that crawls around posting odd links on sites like this. I deleted the posts that Todd's referring to (below). I'm going to have to make some changes pretty soon to keep this kind of stuff off here. Stay tuned (and bear with any trash that shows up until then). I'll probably add a CAPTCHA - that's one of those goofy images with letters that you have to type when you want to post something. This is the reason those are showing up everywhere now - these malicious crawlers get into everything.
Thanks Todd. I would say "Republicans to the rescue!" but I'm a little disillusioned with the Republican party over the last several years - it's just not the same Republican party that I have always aligned myself with.

Just wanted to drop a line to say hi. Hope everyone is making it through the winter ok. Hopefully we're on the downhill slide. Can't wait for spring. Mark and I are going on a cruise this spring so that's really something to look forward to. Talking about kids, I can't believe my oldest will be 21 in 3 months, that's scary. My baby is 17. I can't believe we're that old. I didn't make it to the last reunion but hope to make it next time. I don't see many of my classmates. I am still in close contact with Mary-Jo Coffin-Tardif and talk to her daily and if you remember Nancy Tardiff-Wagstaff, she was a year behind us, she lives in Trenton. Has anyone heard from or know where Scott Farley is? Billy Burtt is you're reading this, drop me a line. Kim and Steve M. hopefully we can get down your way some time this summer, I heard that Kayla just got back from Costa Rica. We're stopping there on our cruise. Well, that's all for now. Condolences go out to my childhood friend and our classmate Sandra Getchell at the loss of her 27 yr. old daughter Katherine. Bless you Sandy and Shannon and the 2 children she left behind. If you need anything, dont hesitate to call me.

Thought I would stop in to say Merry Christmas to all you Upper-classmen! ;) It was fun to see some of the pictures posted (And you do have a LOT of pictures!) I do run across some, here in the Bangor area every once in a while. It's fun to see some of your names and recall the good times we shared growing up, picking badadoes, playing baseball or just hanging out! (Got a kick out of those old KISS pics!) Steve M. it's nice to hear from you it sounds like you haven't changed a bit.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanks Giving, including those of you who voted for the president elect....whats his name.
I too have hope that things will be better in the future. However when what's his face says that our foreign policy, economy, housing industry, banking system, school system, medical system, and infrastructure are all bad and it's going to stay that way for a while just who is he talking too? I want to see more action and a lot less talk.
I'm sure change will be right around the corner but I'm afraid that when he only has himself and a democratic congress to blame we'll find out the true depth of character of what's his face.
In the mean time I'll keep plugging away here in the Great Northwest and keep paying those taxes in hopes that some of it will do more than just bail out some fatcats and help a 20-percent minority in this country feel like they finally have arrived and it is only now a worth while country to live in.
All this and I still wondering if I'm the only one left with some sense in this country?

Yes Paula kids are leaving way to soon, Kayla and Kim are traveling up and down the east coast looking at schools.. so now you know who is sending this note. All is good here in Scarborough, but there is always something missing...your friends.. We were at UMO for the game couple saturdays ago.. and Kayla checked out the campus abit more..who knows..but tell Mike,Al,and Clyde to get off their asses and let's get out..

My kids are growing fast too but they are still only 7 and 9 my nine year old is in his third season of pop warner football and this year made QB I'm so proud my other is a brain and plays piano not having any lessons I'm sure they will be going off to college before we know it. It seems like my wife and I got married yesterday when in fact in October it will be 22 years. Take care all and your never too old to rock.

I am not sure I have ever posted a message, but took a peek at this and decided to post a quick note. I agree with those finding it hard to see their own kids growing up.. Mike and I had our first graduate from H.S. this year. Another one graduates next year and the third is going into 8th grade. Other than getting a little older, Mike and I are doing fine. Kim M. it was neat to see your message also. It has been a while since we talked. It gets so busy. We forget to take time to stay in touch. Take Care Everyone!

Finally got back PI this past weekend for a 50th anniv for my aunt & uncle (Wheeler) got to visit with alot of people I haven't seen in about 10 years (last time I was there, a weeding next August will put me up again for Chelsea Cambridge. I really love it up there. Wish I could have looked up some classmates, might have seen some along my travels their but would have no clue who they were (lol) hopefully the next reunion I'll be able to make it. Its been way to long Take care

After leaving Presque Isle I lived in NH for several years, but always managed to make the trip several times a year to the county while my mother was still alive. After moving from state to state I was always proud to say where my roots are. MA is so much like Maine in some ways, as you distance yourself from the hub it gets better.

Kerry, I wonder sometimes, too, how our parents went through the growing up and letting go. My daughter finished up soph. yr in college and my son graduates high school on the 8th. It's hard, isn't it?

Just thought i'd say hi and see how every things going. Have been busy with 2 of my kids graduatng from college May 17 & 18. one at KVCC in Fairfield for electrical and the other from Merrimack College in MA for finance of course theres nothing in the state of Maine that can keep her here for that major she will be living in MA and i'm not sure how i'm going to like this but they do grow up we all did and went our own ways how did our parents feel when we did this? I am so proud of all the kids who dare to venture out and challenge their lives maybe some day they'll come back to this beautiful state, I did. everyone take care

Unfortunately big projects produce big problems. In any case, you should know that the billions of dollars spent were primarily federal dollars which makes it all of our money.
So in fact, I do beilieve that dollar for dollar the State of Massachusetts probably did get everything they paid for and then some...say about twelve billion dollars worth of infastructure that would have otherwise taken 50-years to construct.
None-the-less it probably is painful for the public but think of all those union crafts people and businesses that benefitted from the work. I'd say at a minimum labor inefficiencies drove costs up at least 15-percent and where only increased by the well known archaic union practices in the Boston area.
I know at least one major contractor that will never do business in Boston again because it's one of those areas where your not in charge of your own work.
In any case, public safety always comes first and I do believe some people are being held accountable just not the right ones.
Hope my opinion is taken well. I've been in the business some 25-years or so now and its interesting to hear what the public thinks about mega-projects. Heavy civil highway construction is quite possibly the most thankless job in the public sector.
I urge you to contact your public leaders. Those who wanted the project, found the money, hired the engineering firms, and paid the contractors and are now pointing the finger. I'd love to know what their accountability is.

The media would have you believe differently on that subject and being a MA tax payer I believe that we did not get everything we payed for. I personally will bear with the traffic and take the Sumner and Callihan tunnels to Logan. I realize that with such an enormace project that delays and budget problems will arise, but when public safety is comprimised and some of the parties were aware of such flaws then they should be held accountable...however if you have followed the story of the problems that have plagued the project the system was set up to protect most of the major contractors from libility....hey its the American way! Well looks like I go away for a week and finally come back to warmer weather. Just came back from a cruise to the Bahamas it was ok. Kids liked Atlantis and swimming with the dolphins. Fishing was horrible and the bar tab on the cruise is going to take some time to pay off. I'm also not the best gambler, next time I'll go Royal Carribean there boat is bigger and have more things for the kids to do. I want to look at this star herald web sight see whats going on probably, wouldn't recognise anything anymore though. Hey have fun summers almost here.

It's spring here in Merrimack, NH. All the snow is finally off our front yard and Nick can get out on his bike and scooter again. I put the boot tray away the other day...so it'll probably snow again. We're supposed to hit 70 tomorrow and for the rest of the week. None of Nick's summer clothes fit from last year... so off to Walmart for shorts.

Oh my, it has been awhile since I have looked in on this site. What an amazing Winter for those of you still in the County. I hope you love to snowmobile and or ski. We actually have had plenty of snow here in Southern Maine as well and it is not melting fast enough for me.
Valerie, I haven't heard your name in such a long time! You mention band and of course I remember you and your husbands family. You played trombone, right? I don't know if you remember that I played alto sax (though playing is a stretch) I didn't apply a lot of effort in those days. I still have great memories of band however. I always regretted quitting my Junior year for a place on the Flag and Drill Team. Oh well! My daughter and I will be heading to Concord NH this weekend for a dance competition at Chubbs Theater. She is 16 and does competition dance. I am hoping they are only calling for rain in NH as we may have a possible snow/mix storm here in the Portland area.

Valerie, It is almost like living in Maine again we got about 5" of snow here my son Matthew who is 8 years old and I went skiing again yesterday it was fantastic. Don't dispair snow will be gone soon and the skeeters and black flies will be back.

Raymond, We used to live off Baboosic Road when we first moved to Merrimack 20 years ago! Now we live off Back River (my son wants me to add that it was off Joppa Road) almost on the town line. Back River was closed for paving...much needed...from Dunkin Donuts to the Bedford line for 4 months...what a major pain having to go around. We just got dumped on again with 10 more inches of snow. I'm so sick of shoveling, but the kids in the neighborhood are loving it. They've been on vacation this last week and with all the snow from two more storms, the sliding is great.

Valerie...My wife and I used to live not far from you we live on West street off of Bean Road off Babossic Lake road in Merrimack before moving to Tampa, Fl. Now we reside in Mass close to Mount Monadanock area, I took my 8 year old son skiing the other day. Well I skied he snow boarded. It was the first time I skied in 21 years and only fell down once good thing one more spill and I probably would have broke my hip(thats and old folks joke). Mr. Wilson thanks for continuing to keep new news on the sight, McCain has my endoresment also, just seems the Dems can't come up with a solid candidate. Message here for Mr. B Colton, I bored and stroked my Road King, Threw in some performance cams and ported the heads... ever see a 800 lb. cop bike do a wheelie? Well American idol is almost over that means the TV is now mine got to go.

Must be getting old to get this nostalgic. I came across this site yesterday and decided to take the plunge and post. It was fun reading all the old postings and looking at the reunion photos. Some of you haven't changed a bit!
I married David-for those reading who were in the band, he's Doug and Dan's older brother, but contrary to the family trend,can't carry a tune in a bucket- in 1985. We live in southern NH and have an 8 year old son, Nick. I never imagined I'd be chasing an 8 year old at 45, but such is life. After college and teaching jr high home ec a few years, I got 3 cookbooks published. Now, I'm just Mom, and that's fine. Haven't touched a musical instrument since college, but Nick seems to have a natural ability that I hope he will explore as he gets older. David is the general manager of the Office Depot in Nashua, NH and enjoys it most days. My brother Dan lives in NYC and works for Reuters as a software designer. He is divorced, no kids, doesn't play his trumpet anymore and spoils Nick rotten when he comes to visit. Brother in law Doug lives about an hour from us so we see him often. He has two grown kids, a grandson and two grown step kids. Sadly, he has lost much of his functional vision to macular degeneration and will be legally blind with in the year. He looks EACTLY the same as he always did. Dan is a retired air force major and lives in VA just outside DC. His kids are in high school now. His son is a very talented baritone player and has made VA all state band twice so far. He's still as charming as ever and still plays drums regularly. For those who remember my mother in law Ruth, she passed away in 2007 after a long illness. Her passing was very hard David, but was a blessing after her long suffering.
Our condolances to any who have lost a loved one. It is hard to see our folks age...of course, we haven't changed at all, right?

Looks like Hilary may be pushed aside by Obama. In either case it would be a cold day in hell before either one of them get my vote! However, if osama bin laden was running against one of them I may reconsider.
Speaking of the cold I hear they're getting a lot of snow up home. Hope all are well, Republicans, democrates, and the like.
Just got back from my sons 13th birthday party in down town Seattle at "Gameworks". I still don't understand why we don't just have a cake, ice cream, and some family members over? I wish my wife thought as much about saving money as she does birthday party festivities. I was in hopes after Tim grew out of Chukie Cheese it would be the end of that type of birthday party but no!
Seattle is a busy place we went to 7th and Pike which is near a building I worked on 11-years ago at 6th and Pine. I'm not sure how many of you have heard of the grunge music thing started in Seattle but it's readily appearent as I hear the grunge music playing on the sidewalk as you pass businesses and the seemingly endless variety of grungy looking hair and clothing. Its like an anti-fashion statement I just don't get!
I don't know how many of us remember being 13 but it was an interesting experience I had being around eight teenagers around 13 years of age. The energy, the noise, and yes the annoying behavior....I really don't know how teachers survive it year-in and year-out so kudos to the teachers and here's to surviving our own wonderful introductory years to being a teenager.
I know for many of you having a 13-year old is old news but its quite a revelation for me as I don't like being reminded of just how old I'm getting.
I want you to know that no matter how I sound, no matter how cynical I get, I still pray to God that I can revell in life and the wonder of having the gifts of son's in my life. I sincerely hope I can live up to the challenges of raising them right in a world that seems to change on an hourly basis.
Therefore I am humbled and honored to be a father and its's possibly all the justification I need to carry on.
Take care all and try to find a Republican candidate to support. McCain has my endorsement.

Happy 2008 everyone- just want to say I ran into Warren Carlsen in Skowhegen at the Heritage House where we went to have a nice dinner with friends to celebrate the New year- and he guessed it was me (and not Mary)! Pretty good I think- especially since I didn't know who he was right away!!! Always fun running into an old classmate though :-)
On another note- I am so sorry to hear about your loss, Jennifer. It is so hard to lose a loved one, especially a parent. It makes me realize I need to get up there more to see mine, that's for sure, especially as they aren't getting any younge and are experiencing some health issues...

Although my family might not agree, my proudest moments were my marriage, the births of my children, and providing a home for all of us.
Since as long as I can remember I've been building things so I consider my life's title to be "Builder" which personally means so much more to me.
To explain, building is the act of creating and building gives me the opportunity to create something that is placed into service of humanity, to country, to something greater than myself.
What now seems so long ago, in shop class I always excelled at making projects and I always made more than one to give to family members.
As a child, while constructing my neighborhoods first two story club house or as an adult chomping at the bit for my next great construction experience I've always been driven to build and to do it properly.
The determination, the strife, the challenges, the weather, the problems, the headaches, the heartaches, the physical pain. I driven headlong into it all.
Now as I gaze across my career's time span, the people, the projects, and the places I'm only begining to understand that it's been my love not my knowledge or my ego that has carried me here.

Been enjoying great weather this year? I hope so. The family and I just got back from a wonderful vacation in Collingwood, Ontario right on Lake Huron nice place great fishing, great people. We also stopped in Niagra on the Canadian side, that place has changed alot since the last time I went 12 years ago. My boys had a blast there lots to see and do. My oldest is 8 and plays football and am proud to say his team here in MA in there division is undefeated. Well folks have a most excellant fall and winter where ever you may be. AND GO PATS GO!!!

I remember that bike well it was my first bike since then I've gone through too many to count, from the Triumph chopper the first bike I built and traded Darren Walton for a couple of Kawasaki 400s for. To the motocross bikes I wrecked and the 3 HD's my latest an FLHRP. Still biking after all these years. I know we all miss Darren his death was a tragedy. Dale loved to bike too. Hey thanks for the reply.

A Harley Police Road King, yes Brian C. an HD. I will be once again able to go to Loudon but first I will take a trip to Colebrook NH for the blessing of the bikes the friday of bike week. Just to let everyone know I ran into one of our classmates at a Walmart in Rindge, NH...Robin (Dean) Rattray what a small world They only live two towns over from where we live it was nice to see someone from up there you once went to school with. I know John Wolff lives not far from me also but I haven't bumped into him yet but Walmart is quite central to the area and having to young kids I find myself taking several trips there per week. Hope everyone in PI and surrounding areas are doing well. Sorry to here about Mr. Dean too, he was a good man.

He loved golf, his Cadillacs, and could really rock on the drums. He was a good father and respected member of the community. Kenny I lost your cell number when I trashed yet another cell phone, they are not very water resistant you know. If you bump into anyone I might know up there tell them I said Hey.

In middle school growing into a teenager was a struggle for me and your mother was one of those people who knew how to get through to me in a kind and positive way.
She was the same age as my father so I suspect they went to highschool together along with my Mom. I'm surprised that I only knew her as Mrs. Boyles. I never knew her first name was Ardis.
I forget many things but I always remember a person's kindness. I am truely sorry for your loss.

Howdy Folks,
Just wanted everyone to know I miss the 80's. We (my friends and I) had a lot of fun. Listening to 80's music helps me remember. The 80's music has a lot of great energy that you could dance to. I challenge anyone to try not to dance while listening to INXS 'Suicide Blonde'.
I heard something today from a man from India. He said where there is conflict there can also be peace. Don't tell the democrates it might interrupt their naysaying whine. Andy you may have to sensor this!
Lately, I've become facinated with the history surrounding the Pilgrims. What bravery it took to leave all that you know and venture to a new world. I really admire that original thought and action.

Todd, you're not alone in thinking we're under assault for having christian beliefs. I like you believe that those they call the "secular-progressives" would love to wipe the mention of God, or Christ from everywhere in Gov't. or in public. I believe it goes back to the "seperation of church and state" ruling by the USSC years ago and how Bogus that was, but that's a whole different matter *L*.
I make it a point to say "Merry Christmas", not "Happy Holidays" just to make people remember he is the reason for the season.
OK...I'll come off the soapbox now.

Howdy Folks,
Hope everyone in your family is doing well this Holiday Season (which includes Christmas, a celebration of the birth of Christ). Just kidding about the Christ part of Christmas. Too many corporations (people) around here are trying to white wash Christ out of Christmas in an attempt to rid themselves of any religious symbolism. I get so tired of the rhetoric and deception.
Its so conviluted here that last year during Christmas the main local television stations played stories depicting the Crucifixion of Christ during the Christmas holiday?
More recently a Rabbi threatened to sue the port authority that runs the airport because he wanted 6-foot menorah's displayed with the Christmas trees in the airport. To the dismay of many the port authority took the trees down until the threat of a lawsuit was dropped.
I don't know what everyone else thinks but I feel under assault for having christian beliefs and more withdrawn from the mainstream then ever. I know we cannot go back but weren't things more normal in the past when there seemed to be more tolerance and respect for a person's religious beliefs?
That's all I have to say about that. In any case please don't let my skepticism dampen your holiday season. I don't really know why I have to think about these things?

My father now resides somewhere in South Carolina. I remember him always chasing us out of the fairgrounds. I feel your loss I lost my mother 12 years ago and still miss her.

Todd, I remember Mark..where did he move to? The family home in Mapleton will be going on the market in Jan. It will seem strange not going there whenever I go home to visit. I recently had to go to Biddeford Hospital and the Dr. Who I met said he remembered me, but I didnt ask him from where...I got home and looked on my pill bottle and his name is Scott Farrell. Remember him? Does anyone know if Scott became a Dr.? It doesnt say in his profile. Happy Holidays Everyone!

My father's is from Mapleton. I spent a lot of time there at my Grandparents house and with my Cousin Mark Weaver and we probably had at least a couple of occasions where we should have been apprehended!
I remember working with your Dad on a couple of projects I worked on while I was employed by the City of Presque Isle while in college. I recall your father as a good man.

Thank You, Todd. Dad worked for the City of P.I. as a Heavy Equipment operator for 20 years and then worked as Security at the Fairgrounds and also was in the Racing business with my mother. He was also Constable of Mapleton for 15-20 years so maybe he stopped you at one point? LOL J/k
